Our PHILOSOPHY
To us, medicine is a multifaceted word, one with many meanings. From the food we eat, to the animals and plants we interact with, to the substances we imbibe in the name of health, and so much more. Our mission is to approach life in a truly holistic way, and to view the world around us as the medicine we interact with on a daily basis.
The items crafted at Dancing Sage are formulated by founder and clinical herbalist, Anna Claire Lotti, and are offered as allies or tools for your journey. All of the plants we work with are grown organically, without chemicals, or sustainably and ethically wildharvested. Sustainability of our forests and other ecosystems is something we stand behind in a big way. We ask permission from the lands we harvest from and the people who tend them whenever possible, we only take what is needed- making sure to replant seeds for future growth. Plants are harvested at their peak, during the right time of year, and are left alone if necessary for future growth and thriving. Other plants are acquired from local WNC organic farmers, or sourced from a handful of other reputable organic herb suppliers in the US.
Dancing Sage products are lovingly handcrafted in small batches in the ancient Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. It is our goal to provide you with herbal products that are mindfully blended, evoking the senses and encouraging vitality; perhaps they'll even bring a bit of joy and magic your way!
It's also important to note that our somewhat open interpretation of the word "medicine" is based on traditional healing from many cultures throughout the ages, and from the understandings of medicine peoples and shamans of the past and present. This however, is not the commonly accepted definition of the word, and we must make it clear that the products and services offered on our site are not intended to treat, cure, or diagnose any disease or illness.
